What Community Means to Crescent Builds
How We Integrate Our Construction Expertise With Community Service To Make Lasting Impacts In Seattle Neighborhoods
At Crescent Builds, community lies at the heart of the work and services that we provide. As a trusted Seattle design build contractor, our mission extends beyond the home remodeling projects we build, improve, and restore. We are dedicated to enhancing the neighborhoods and lives of those who call Seattle home. Through our holistic design build approach, thoughtful partnerships, and volunteer engagements with local organizations, our efforts are directed at promoting a stronger, more connected, and resilient community.
Building for Impact: Our Role in Seattle’s Neighborhoods
As one of Seattle's premier remodel contractors specializing in home renovation and design, our expertise shapes the physical framework of the surrounding communities. Every project we undertake—from small project and repair projects to complete home remodels—is equally important and is grounded in our commitment to quality, longevity, and sustainability, ensuring that our work aligns with the unique needs and aspirations of local residents.
Housing is more than our craft; it is a cornerstone of our community that plays a fundamental role in daily life, serving as a foundation for stability, growth, and well-being. Recognizing this, over the years we have established and fostered partnerships with local organizations dedicated to providing no-cost home remodeling and improvement services for those facing financial barriers. These collaborations help address pressing needs within the community, offering tangible support and creating opportunities for individuals and families to thrive.
A Traditional, Local Approach
Unlike larger corporations that prioritize national reach, Crescent Builds remains rooted in a traditional, community-focused ethos. We live, work, and invest in the neighborhoods we serve, and this local connection allows us to foster long-lasting relationships with clients, trade partners, vendors, and organizations that have a ripple effect throughout the region. From initial consultations to the final build and volunteer service events, our approach centers on collaboration, transparency, and a shared commitment to enriching Seattle’s vibrant communities.
Supporting Neighborhood Organizations
Crescent Builds is proud to partner with the following local organizations that share a commitment to fostering inclusivity, sustainability, and community service. These partnerships provide the opportunity to strengthen Seattle neighborhoods and address both human and environmental needs. Organizations such as the Phinney Neighborhood Association and Ballard Food Bank focus on building connections, addressing food insecurity, and providing essential services to vulnerable residents through a diversity of programs, services, and events. Their efforts foster inclusivity and drive positive change by creating supportive networks that ensure a sense of belonging. On the housing front, partnerships with groups like Rebuilding Together and the Master Builders Association ensure that affordable housing and accessibility remain a top priority in the construction industry. These collaborations provide much-needed home services, repairs, and modifications for those in need, helping to preserve housing stability and neighborhood revitalization. Environmental stewardship is an equally significant part of Crescent Builds’ mission. Our collaborations with Ballard Reuse and Earthwise Salvage emphasize the importance of repurposing materials and reducing waste in our landfills. Integrating sustainable practices into projects and emphasizing eco-friendly materials also reduces construction's environmental impact. These efforts reflect Crescent Builds’ dedication to preserving natural resources and fostering a healthier, more sustainable future for the community.
Volunteering Our Design Build Services: Giving Back to Our Community
Community service forms a cornerstone of the building industry, bridging the gap between technical expertise and the needs of the people it serves. Engagement in community service connects construction with the human experience, emphasizing its potential to address critical local needs and foster meaningful change. By participating in these events and initiatives, Crescent Builds has the opportunity to improve accessibility, enhance public and residential spaces, and support vital services that contribute to the welfare of our neighborhoods. These efforts demonstrate our commitment to making construction a force for positive change, highlighting its role as both a technical and humanitarian endeavor.
Rampathon
Over the past 12 years, Crescent Builds has been a proud participant in Rampathon, an initiative led by the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish County. This program brings together industry professionals and volunteers to construct accessibility ramps for individuals with mobility challenges at no cost. Each ramp built not only provides essential accessibility but also represents a transformative improvement in the lives of recipients. Last year alone, local builders, including Crescent Builds, constructed approximately 30 ramps, underscoring the impact of collaborative community service. Last year, Crescent Builds was honored to build a ramp for a recipient who had been homebound for nearly a decade due to mobility limitations. The installation of this ramp profoundly improved her quality of life, granting her the freedom and independence she had been missing for years. Such experiences highlight the power of events like Rampathon to address accessibility constraints and illustrate the broader role of the building industry in creating meaningful, life-changing solutions.
Whitman Middle School
When the Parent and Teachers Association (PTA) reached out to Crescent Builds about an insurance question, we recognized that there existed a deeper need—the staff lounge at Whitman Middle School required significant improvement. What began as a simple consultation quickly turned into an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the school community. Recognizing the importance of supporting educators and public education institutions, we donated our time, labor, and resources to transform the outdated and uncomfortable lounge into a much more inviting and functional space. By installing new cabinetry, countertops, and other general upgrades, the lounge became a welcoming environment where teachers and staff could recharge and connect. This project highlighted the vital role that public schools and their dedicated teachers play in shaping the community. Investing in this space was more than a renovation; it was an acknowledgment of the hard work and commitment of educators who inspire future generations. Crescent Builds remains committed to finding opportunities to enhance public spaces and support the critical work of institutions that are central to the community’s growth and well-being.
Seattle Design Festival: Story House
Last year, Crescent Builds partnered with Architects Without Borders Seattle for the 2024 Seattle Design Festival, aligning with their mission to use architecture as a tool to improve the environment, enhance quality of life, and uplift the human spirit. Architects Without Borders brings this vision to underserved communities by offering pro bono architectural services, ensuring that design is accessible to all. The Seattle Design Festival, which emphasizes collaborative design practices that strive to create a more equitable and inclusive Seattle, provided the perfect platform for this collaboration.
The 2024 installation, titled “Story House,” was a poignant exploration of homelessness in Seattle and nearby communities. Designed by Architects Without Borders in collaboration with Yirim Seck and Wa Na Wari and built by Crescent Builds, the tiny home featured video interviews of local individuals sharing their experiences with homelessness and resilience. Visitors were invited to reflect on the systemic challenges faced by over 60,000 homeless individuals in Washington state, where Seattle ranks third among major U.S. cities in homeless populations, based on data provided by the Low Income Housing Institute. Highlighting the role of tiny homes as stepping stones toward permanent housing, “Story House” underscored the potential for thoughtful design to create impactful, scalable solutions for some of the city’s most pressing social issues.
