QUEEN ANNE BACKYARD REMODEL

Originally envisioned in the 1990s by a creative local architect duo, this backyard remodel transformed an overgrown, underutilized space into a functional area for entertaining. Key additions included a motorcycle garage and a storage shed, providing individualized spaces for the homeowners’ needs. The design follows a Northwest Contemporary style, blending rustic natural elements with a modern touch to complement the main home. The transformation featured Bluestone tiles replacing a concrete pad and pavers to create a spacious patio, bordered by minimal landscaping and enhanced with steel planters for added greenery.

Both the motorcycle garage and garden shed feature cedar channel siding with a custom-milled profile, seamlessly integrating design elements like a steel barn door and concealed siding extensions. Other updates include galvanized steel gutters, a custom linear drain, new decking, and Corten steel gates with a laser-cut organic motif, designed by one of the architects, which provide privacy while framing views of the adjacent alley. Thoughtful design solutions and the clients' flexibility ensured the project balanced aesthetic appeal, functionality, and quality, culminating in a cohesive and inviting outdoor space.
