CAPITOL HILL WHOLE HOUSE REMODEL
This 1908 Capitol Hill Craftsman home underwent a comprehensive remodel that blended modern design with the preservation of its original charm. A small, outdated kitchen and previously neglected living spaces required a full overhaul to refinish and improve the home’s floor plan, functionality, and aesthetics. The project began by gutting the spaces to address outdated features such as dropped ceilings, oak cabinetry, and carpeting over hardwood floors. In addition, required structural updates included straightening framing, updating wiring, plumbing, and adding insulation throughout the house.
The kitchen was completely transformed to include a luxurious island with additional counter space, custom cabinetry for storage, sleek pendant lighting, and Carrara marble countertops and backsplash, which beautifully contrast with the rich custom-stained oak floors. A custom mural with a playful dry-erase wall calendar was added for family planning, adding both fun and function. The bathroom was redesigned with a clean, simple aesthetic, featuring contrasting dark floor tiles, bright white cabinets, and vertical subway tiles. Clever storage solutions were incorporated throughout the home, including a custom mudroom feature in the entryway, a custom console table, and efficient organizational spaces in the bedrooms. This remodel successfully balanced the home's historical integrity with modern touches, creating a functional, stylish living space for the family.
