In Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood, the exterior refresh at Ba Bar was designed to celebrate the restaurant’s rich history while strengthening its connection to the community it serves. The updated façade brings new life to the 100-year-old building, blending durability with timeless style. Fresh stucco provides a weather-resistant finish with a clean, modern profile, while hand-brushed trim adds a warm, crafted detail that reflects the care put into every element of the project. At night, custom brackets lift the exterior lighting slightly away from the building, casting a soft glow that highlights Ba Bar’s architecture and creates an inviting street presence for guests.
One of the most unique project features was the restoration of rare chicken-wire glass, salvaged from long-abandoned factories on the East Coast. No longer produced today, this glass infuses the structure with vintage industrial charm, honoring the building’s past, while creating a distinctive identity for the restaurant. Each design choice was made to balance function and storytelling, resulting in an exterior that not only protects and enhances the building but also amplifies Ba Bar’s role as a gathering place where heritage and hospitality meet.
